Hardline Design

Astudioofengineersfocusingondeliverablehardware.

Hardline was founded to eliminate the friction between engineering intent and the reality of the shop floor. Our goal is to build direct, long-term partnerships with manufacturers and innovators by delivering high-rigor, production-ready documentation that often gets overlooked in the design phase.

The story

Why Hardline exists. Relationships built on results.

Our founder Robert Recalde has years of experience in the high-stakes world of defense-sector IRAD and production engineering at Prime defense companies. In this industry a single drawing error can stall a multi-million dollar program. An overlooked tolerance can shoot production costs through the roof and place stress on the hard-working machinists tasked with meeting prints.

Hardline's goal is to provide machine shops and hardware startups with room to innovate alongside the expertise of Tier-1 contractors. Our focus is on a small, relationship-first operation — not sending a quote into the void. You're getting a dedicated partner who values a handshake and understands the design is only as good as the part that comes off the machine.

What we believe

Four principles we hold the line on.

PRINCIPLE 01

Drawings are contracts

Every drawing we sign is one we'll defend on the factory floor. If we can't tool it, we don't draw it.

PRINCIPLE 02

Senior on every project

No junior handoffs, no "associate-led" engagements. The engineer who scopes is the engineer who ships.

PRINCIPLE 03

Tolerance budget first

We agree the stack-up before we model the first feature. It saves three months at PVT.

PRINCIPLE 04

Stay through ramp

We don't disappear at sign-off. Every program gets post-MP support, included.
